Haha yea I just get this from him..

Thanks for your kind words and support. It was a great honor to play for, and in front of you all. I want you to know that I'm reading all of your letters as fast as I can but it would be impossible to answer all of them individually. So I'm writing something short, so that you know I read yours. Thanks again, and I will see you in July. Until then.

Sincerely ; Jim Edmonds

Obviously sounds like he's getting a bunch now to personally not answer everyone but he's reading them so this is great..

atleast he replied in a way that knew it wasn't fake. "He said see you in July". I told him I was going to his welcome back game. I think it's neat

McKernan on Emails:

I mock Edmonds a lot for being whiny and give him trouble about not being in touch with the "common man."

But, to his credit on this whole thing with the email address, I texted him last night to let him know that Martin, The Cat, and myself were having dinner at F15teen with former Blues president Mark Sauer...so wanted to make sure there would be availability.

He wrote back, "Cool. I'm having trouble answering all of these emails. How do I do it?"

Being a tough and cool text messager, I wrote back, "Hit reply."

Edmonds, not being amused, wrote back, "I want to answer them all individually, but there are now 110 of them, and I can't answer each one."

I told him, jokingly, to hire an assistant to ghost write all the replies.

He wrote back---not catching my high brow material---that "That's not me to do that."

He's really taking all of these emails seriously and feels an obligation to thank the people that took time to email him. That's why he specifically set up this new email address.

If you read my column yesterday, there was an email from a mom who said her son hadn't stopped crying since he found out about the trade all the way until Monday...and when asked at school what he wanted for Christmas, he said, "Edmonds back."

Jim saw that and personally emailed the kid...and I'm sure that 6 or 7 year-old is still riding the high of seeing that Jim took the time to respond to him.

So, while on the show---and in person---we liked to give Edmonds trouble for being whiny and a primadonna, he's showing a side of himself this week that indicates his appreciation for what he experienced here.

Padres' Edmonds pulls up lame, leaves game
By Tom Krasovic
UNION-TRIBUNE STAFF WRITER
2:50 p.m. March 6, 2008

PEORIA, Ariz. – Center fielder Jim Edmonds departed Thursday's Padres game because of a strained right calf muscle, and he's not happy about it.

“It's pretty tight,” Edmonds told a reporter, after limping to his clubhouse stall. “That's exactly what I didn't need. I'd been running great.”

Edmonds said he felt a “little twinge” in the calf when his spikes got caught while taking a swing in the first inning. He stayed in the game for another inning, then was replaced in center field by utility man Callix Crabbe.

“It's pretty tight, so we'll have to wait and see how it feels tomorrow,” Edmonds said. “It's definitely not what I was looking for.”
