And just so you know if Colby Rasmus is being un-tradable for a heck of a tandem in Pujols and Cabrera I will go nuts.. I would trade Colby for Miguel.. I dont really seem to care what criticism will come with it. If they can sign Miguel and still have Pujols around.. why couldnt you build around that and have a good team? You certainly can.. get creative if you have to.. Remember when Cabrera said he would love to play with Pujols? I do.. With that said, no pipe dream on this.. no real chance if you ask me but never know..

"Pujols is the best. He is my hero," says Cabrera. "If I were traded, I'd like to play with him in St. Louis, though I'd rather have Pujols playing for the Marlins. "But I'd really like to play with him. He is a player who has consistently achieved exceptional production every year, and even won a Gold Glove."
Better chance of getting Miguel Tejada than Miguel Cabrera.. you know.. now that I thought about this.. we've been in more discussions recently than when Jocketty was here about trades.. I'm I thinking wrong?

• Chris Capuano isn't the only left-handed starter on the Cardinals' shopping list. St. Louis has talked to Cleveland about Cliff Lee, with Anthony Reyes and/or catching prospect Bryan Anderson mentioned as possibilities to return to the Indians. Arizona recently talked to the Indians about Lee, but the teams don't look like a match anymore now that the Diamondbacks have traded outfielder Carlos Quentin to the White Sox.
Btw I'm using this thread for basically anything not related to Reyes/Rolen trades.. it may involve him but doesnt need its own thread right now unless somethin happens
Cliff Lee - Talks are "valid" Indians want outfielder in return. Chris Duncan for Cliff Lee? Rick Ankiel for Cliff Lee? Cliff Lee is "in play". Definetly have interest in moving Lee, Cards have had interest in Lee in the past.
If you trade Duncan to Cleveland they already have Hafner. Trading Ankiel would seem to be a better fit than Duncan.
Pedro Feliz - Defensively with Izturis would be pretty good, but offensively would hit for average but no runs. Cubs type low OBP team if you start Feliz/Izturis. Will have to hash out that stuff free agent wise and if they want that.
Miguel Tejada/Erik Bedard - Names were discussed. When Rasmus is taken out of the equation the talks end with Baltimore.
Colby Rasmus - Reluctant to deal him still. Some feel he may not be untouchable and Cards should put him out there to see who's interested. See what his value is.. dont rule him out of trade discussions.. going into the Winter Meetings he didnt expect to hear that but now he is about making Rasmus available.
Jim Edmonds/San Diego - Falling apart quickly. Edmonds has more value to the Cards than any other team. More likely Rolen goes anywhere than Jim does.
Mozeliak - He'll become a lot more agressive as things go on. He's feeling pressure right off the bat with Rolen.
* Cliff Lee is on the block -- and Indians want OF in return... Strauss says Cardinals' interest is "valid." And "in play." Cardinals have interest.
* What about the OF? Duncan or Ankiel ... I asked Strauss if La Russa / Duncan would allow Chris Duncan to be traded. "That's a good question," Strauss said.
* Blowback about trading Rolen in division to Milwaukee; Cardinals nervous about it...talks appear to have stalled.
* Strauss described it as "cold feet."
* Thinks LA Dodgers' interest in Rolen is more fiction than fact...
* Rolen is being discussed, but hard to distinguish what's serious and what isn't...conflicting signals.
* Prelim talks about Bedard, Cabrera, etc. begin and end with Colby Rasmus. Cardinals won't put him on the table, and that's who teams are asking for.
* El Diablo thinks there's some sentiment in the organization to at least listen to what teams would offer for Rasmus... Strauss says, no one is saying "Let's move this guy." But some are saying, 'Let's see what his value is before we rule it out."
* Edmonds to San Diego? "Dissipating," according to El Diablo.
* Strauss supposed to talk to La Russa later; read STLtoday.com later for more on these potential developments.
Thats gonna be an amazing team but thats a lot to give up..
Anyways.. now that it seems like it's happening.. Rolen could be one of the main targets for teams now along with Tejada.. seeing as I think Santana's trade to the Red Sox will happen real soon too..
