Eck to Blue Jays, Percival to Rays, Taguchi to Phillies

Folks,
Was typing out a blog entry on the Cardinals System-by-way-of-Edgar Renteria when this announcement reached my inbox, but here goes:
David Eckstein filed for free agency Monday, the first day players could.
He was one of 57 players who filed Monday. The other Cardinals who filed were: Kip Wells, Miguel Cairo and Troy Percival. Other names of interest that filed ... Kerry Wood, Abe Nunez, Mark Loretta, Ray King, Francisco Cordero, the well-covered Yankees trio, Aaron Rowand, Jon Lieber, Home Run King Kinda, Milton Bradley,
The only ones i'd really want back is eck and cairo (his util ability). Personally (out of the box) if Mike Lowell hits F.A i would actually think about going after him.
Kip Wells is being marketed as a setup man, since things didn't work out as a starter. Who knows, he puts a few mph on the heater in relief and maybe he takes off.
Yea, i know he was a good reliever depends on if he can add some heat to his arm and control his pitches because he could've been a good Ace in his career if he did that.
Banking on their ability to turn a pitcher's career around, the Rockies agreed to a one-year deal with former Cardinals right-hander Kip Wells today, according to a source close to the situation. The deal is for around $3 million and should be officially announced Thursday or Friday.
The Blue Jays have been mostly quiet this off-season, waiting for the right player to become available at a reasonable price. That player finally has emerged — free-agent shortstop David Eckstein.
The Jays have reached a preliminary agreement with Eckstein on a 1-year, $4.5 million contract, according to a major-league source.
Eckstein, a two-time World Series champion, likely will become the team's everyday shortstop, returning John McDonald to a backup role.

ST. LOUIS -- When the St. Louis Cardinals signed free-agent shortstop Cesar Izturis on Nov. 30, it became a forgone conclusion that David Eckstein was gone.
After discussing a three-year contract with the Cardinals last spring, Eckstein sought a four-year, $30 million deal from the New York Mets this offseason. But Friday, he signed a one-year, $4.5 million contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.
General Manager John Mozeliak said Saturday the Cardinals would have jumped at a chance to sign Eckstein to a similar contract. But Mozeliak said they secured Izturis for one year and $2.85 million after neither Eckstein nor his agent, Ryan Gleichowski, seemed interested in Eckstein returning to St. Louis.
Mozeliak was asked whether Eckstein misjudged the market for shortstops.
"What do you think?" Mozeliak said. "If he was looking for a multiyear deal and he got what he got, I would say he did misjudge it. My phone was always on. I reached out to him many times and unfortunately, it didn't work out."
