Mariners...2 of 3 against Twins
Quote:
MINNEAPOLIS -- The last time right-hander Miguel Batista pitched fewer than three innings in a game this season came on June 10 in San Diego. He pitched one inning of relief.
There was no relief for Batista in the first inning on Wednesday afternoon at the Metrodome as the Twins rocked him for seven runs, tacked on another in the second and cruised to an 8-4 victory in front of 29,881, keeping the Mariners from sweeping the three-game series.

The bright spots for Seattle (71-53) were the relief work of left-hander Ryan Rowland-Smith, who pitched four hitless and scoreless innings, striking out six and walking two. Also, designated hitter Ben Broussard hit his seventh home run of the season in the seventh inning for the Mariners' first run.
