Hot bats get the Mariners the win in game one. Beltre simply went on a tear. The Mariners ended a 7 game losing streak in L.A.

With third baseman Adrian Beltre hitting his 199th and 200th career home runs, first baseman Richie Sexson going 3-for-4 to raise his batting average to .199, and Ichiro Suzuki extending his hitting streak to 21 games, the Mariners took the Angels to the woodshed with a 12-5 victory in front of 42,352 at Angel Stadium.

Beltre has a lot of great at-bats recently.

Since getting a day off last Thursday to get a mental break following an 0-for-12 skid, he has a hit in four consecutive games, going 11-for-17 with four doubles, three home runs and four RBIs.

He tied a club record with four extra-base hits on Monday night. Besides his two home runs, Beltre doubled in the second and fourth innings.

Of Beltre's four extra-base hits, "None were bigger than the two-run homer to put us ahead, 6-4," Hargrove said.

The towering blast to left-center came off Angels starter Bartolo Colon, who lost his second straight decision after starting the season on a five-game winning streak.

Beltre is now batting .389 (14-for-36) with six doubles, four home runs and 11 RBIs in his career against Colon -- and he has no clue why he has done so well against the former Cy Young Award winner.

Mariner's bats finally cooled down tonight, the M's getting only five hits, all singles against the Angels.

Five singles -- including one by Ichiro Suzuki that extended his hitting streak to 22 games -- produced just one run as Seattle (25-23) had its four-game winning streak snapped and fell 4 1/2 games behind the Angels in the American League West

We just couldn't generate any offense tonight past the first inning," manager Mike Hargrove said. "We hit the ball well, I thought, but couldn't find a hole. And they made some good plays. We haven't had a [game] like this in a long time."

Anaheim got HR's from their 3,4 and 5 hitters Wednesday night to beat the M's 8-6.

Vladimir Guerrero hit a go-ahead, three-run shot off Felix Hernandez, Gary Matthews Jr. and Casey Kotchman hit consecutive home runs in the first, and the Angels bullpen preserved an 8-6 win over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night.

"It's good, because there are going to be sometimes when we're not going to do well offensively and our pitchers pick us up and keep us in close ballgames," Guerrero said through a translator. "We have a good pitching staff, and hopefully all of us can contribute to them."

Hernandez (3-3) allowed seven runs and nine hits in seven innings. He surrendered his first three homers of the season, as the Angels took the rubber game of the series and extended their lead in the AL West to 5 1/2 games over the second-place
