Alright, I know my screen name is PhilliesFan, but I'm now living out in Seattle and I can't be with my beloved Phillies.
Enough of explaining myself, now down to business; Ichiro's contract ends at the end of the season, what do the Mariners do? Hope he resigns or trade him this season? Personally, I say trade him. See who you can get for him. Lets face it the post-season for the Mariners aren't going to happen for awhile.
What do other Seattle, baseball fans have to say?
I'm not one but there is no way they trade him unless they know for a fact that hes gone and they can't resign him. He is the only guy on the team that sells tickets.

This would be a TERRIBLE move for the Mariners...
Ichiro is basically the only good player on the team, he's the only player that can sell tickets, get publicity, and maybe convince other free agents that the Mariners could be good the next season b/c of Ichiro and (whover the FA is) - also, Seattle has a huge Japonese (sp) population, this would make tickets go down even MORE
This would be a GREAT move for Ichiro...
I'm sure he wants to win a championship before he retires, he's getting older, he won't be able to carry a team after a couple of years, he could add on to an average team and make that team GREAT! and win a championship with them

yeah this is true you can't trade him he is a fan favorite and not to mention one of the best lead off hitters in the game. But he would have some trade value
Come on, Ichiro's contract ends at the end of this year, he's going to be a free agent. Ichiro may not care about the money as much as he cares about the game, but part of the game is winning. Do you really think he wants to stay in Seattle? There are plenty of teams who are bound for the post-season who would want him.
I'm saying the Mariners should trade him and actually get something out of the deal instead of being left high and dry.
I can't stand the Yankees (I'm not saying the Yankees will take him), but if I was a pro who was on a losing team, and the Yankees waved some cash in my face (which they would def. wave more then Seattle) and knowing they are a winning team... it's not too hard to think about.
Ichiro is a great player, he def. has great value, but how much can he really do for Seattle. If Seattle doesn't want to lose Ichiro (who hit .322 last season) they better get a guy who can hit behind him who hits more then 34 homeruns with 107 RBIs (still impressive and better then what I can do).
If Seattle doesn't trade Ichiro, I hope Philly jumps right on him!
I did not realize that Seattle had a big Japanese population.
That is interesting!
Ichiro is definitely one of the best in the league ... but unless you are going to get others to complement him, he is a waste. I am sure he is tired of losing.
I agree about getting value for him now before he walks. There are a lot of teams that would give up a lot for him.
The Yankees are a great example. They could trade Melky Cabrera, and ARod for him~!
