Adam Eaton hasn't pitched nearly as much for the Rangers as he expected to following his off-season trade from the San Diego Padres. Today's start against the Seattle Mariners will be only his 10th of the year.
Eaton, who tore a tendon in his right middle finger during the final week of spring training, will be a free agent this winter. The native of Seattle still lives in the area during the off-season, so the Mariners would seem to be an attractive destination. Eaton doesn't deny that most kids growing up have dreamed of playing in their hometown, but he said he has a lot of interest in returning to Texas next year.
"When I'm kind of weighing options, I'll be looking for a team that's ready to win the World Series," Eaton said. "I'm a Texas Ranger right now, and I think this team has a great chance to win. I think everyone would say we've under-achieved this year. I think I'm to blame for some of that, for a lack of health."
