Default Caught in a squeeze

Less than two weeks after being told he’d broken his right wrist, Jeremy Reed was the opening-day center fielder for the Seattle Mariners in April – playing through what turned out to be a sprain.

That might be one of the few good things Reed will remember about 2006.

Certainly, the season didn’t unfold as he or the Mariners hoped. Since July, Reed has been on the disabled list with a broken right thumb – watching his job and his future in the organization seem to recede into the distance.

Ichiro Suzuki is now the center fielder, and Reed has no guarantee he’ll even be with Seattle on opening day 2007.

When Reed joined the team in the Freddy Garcia deal he showed so much promise. If his unjury stunts his progression into a qualiy center fielder that willl be a big loss for the M's. If Reed doesn't work out then Garcia was traded for nothing.

Are you talking about Freddy? He just threw a one hitter last week. He had a perfect game through 7 2/3 innings. He has been the same its just he doesn't get the same publicity because of the other stars on the White Sox.
