The clock is ticking on the Giants, and on Manager Felipe Alou.
Another disastrous first inning by Matt Morris led to a 6-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, brushing the Giants a bit further to the fringes of the postseason race -- and perhaps sending Alou a step closer to his fishing boat.
Before the club's third loss in four games, Alou sat in the cramped visiting manager's office and candidly faced the possibility that a five-decade career in baseball is down to its final two weeks.
``When the season is over, I'm a free agent. This is the truth,'' Alou said, gesturing to a wall clock. ``If the season is over at 1:30, I'm a free agent at 1:31.''
