The Giants-Padres season series ends tonight, and too bad for the Giants.
They might have a better chance at the playoffs if a few more SDs remained on the pocket schedule, given how they've beaten the Padres 11 times in the last 12 tries, including Saturday's 5-4 victory in 11 innings.
"I can't explain it," Padres manager Bruce Bochy said.
The latest example of the one-sidedness came on a chilly afternoon in which Barry Bonds had two hits, including his 731st career home run, to lift the Giants to a 4-0 lead. The Padres tied the score off Jason Schmidt to force extra innings, and the winning rally was initiated by Ray Durham's one-out triple in the 11th.
