Two years ago, Bobby Crosby was extremely displeased when starter Mark Redman stepped off the mound and made a gesture of irritation after the shortstop failed to turn a double play.
On Saturday at Kauffman Stadium, fate took a delicious turn for Crosby. First, Crosby cracked a two-run double off Redman, then he threw out a runner at the plate the following inning. Finally, with the game tied in the seventh, Redman made an error on Crosby's bunt, allowing the go-ahead run to score.
With Barry Zito snapping back into form, the A's beat Kansas City 7-2, getting their offense in action after scoring only four runs in dropping both games of a doubleheader to the Royals the previous day.
"It was a little disappointing yesterday, you want to take at least one,'' Crosby said. "To come out and do what we did today feels a little bit better.''
