In the second inning, it finally happened. The skies parted, angels sang and trumpets blared. In his 80th plate appearance with the Giants, Shea Hillenbrand finally saw ball four.

"There's nothing like making a pitcher mad for issuing a two-out walk and hearing him cussing instead of you doing the cussing," said Hillenbrand, who surely dropped his share of the seven banned words during a frustrating first few weeks with San Francisco.

Hillenbrand finally turned his frown upside down Tuesday night. With two outs in the eighth inning of a 2-2 game, and Ray Durham on second base after singling and stealing, Hillenbrand delivered his first important hit for his new team. He grounded a sharp single to right that scored Durham, good for a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres.
