Padres Acquire Hairston
Quote:
SAN DIEGO -- Padres general manager Kevin Towers was right on Wednesday when he said the Padres might not be done dealing.
Just two days after trading relief pitcher Scott Linebrink to Milwaukee for three Minor League pitchers, the Padres acquired 27-year-old outfielder Scott Hairston from Arizona for Minor League pitcher Leo Rosales.
Hairston was hitting .222 with 13 doubles, three home runs and 16 RBIs in 176 at-bats for Arizona. He can play all three outfield positions but was used primarily as a left fielder with the Diamondbacks.
Hairston is a career .238 hitter with 16 home runs and 47 RBIs in 550 Major League at-bats.
"It's very nice to get an opportunity. To be going to San Diego, it's great," Hairston said. "I was excited about going to that organization. They're very successful. I know a couple guys already on the team. I've got a couple buddies on the team. It's going to be different, but change is good."
