San Diego acquires OF Milton Bradley from A's
Quote:
SAN DIEGO -- Just over a week after trading for catcher Michael Barrett, the Padres added another bat to their lineup on Friday to bolster an offense that ranks last in the National League in batting average.
San Diego acquired veteran outfielder Milton Bradley from the Oakland A's along with cash considerations -- namely, $1,360,929 to cover part of his salary -- for Minor League pitcher Andrew Brown.
Bradley is expected to join the team on Sunday for the final game of a three-game series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers, though he's unlikely to play until the team returns to PETCO Park to open a series against Florida on Monday.
Bradley, if healthy, figures to get the majority of starts in left field, where Russell Branyan and Terrmel Sledge have struggled offensively this season.
