Fox Sports reports the Philadelphia Phillies have re-signed lefty reliever J.C. Romero to a three-year, $12 million deal. A fourth option year is included which "could bring the total value of the deal to $16.75 million."
MLB Trade Rumors thinks the signing is bad: "This is a terrible signing. Is it really this hard to find a competent lefty reliever? The Phillies seem to be demonstrating an ignorance of basic pitching statistics. Romero's contract is based on 36 innings...his control is awful - he's walked almost five batters per nine innings in his career. "
It's definitely a time where teams sign relievers hoping they get a good year out of them. Relievers are the toughest to predict.
