Are they really going to miss Bourn or Geary? Bourn had great speed, but he wasn't a .300 hitter and he didn't have an amazing arm in the outfield. He's a guy that could steal a lot of bases, but I don't see him putting up stellar numbers other than SB's.
Geary aka "the Hobbit", had one good year and was never very reliable. He'll be remembered as much as Rheal Cormier or Ryan Franklin. Two ineffective pitchers woa are easier to forget than remember.
Getting Myers back as a starter is a great pick-up. If I remember correctly, he was the starter on opening day last year. If him and hamels stay healthy at the top of the rotation, they will win a lot of games for the Phils. I would much rather have him as a strikeout/innings eater, than pitch one inning every couple of days.
Lidge could excel in Philly or he could be the next Mark Wohlers. We'll have to see, but having the option of Lidge closing and Myers starting again is much better than Myers closing and possibly Kyle Lohse or some other over-hyped pitcher as your number two. There's no question, that Myers is a better starter than the crap out on the free agent market this year. Only time will tell, but i'm happy about it.
