Marco Scutaro is not the type of player opposing teams fear. Listed at 5-foot-9 and 190 pounds, the 31-year-old middle infielder will never be mistaken for a game-changing slugger. But much like World Series hero David Eckstein, what Scutaro lacks in brawn, he makes up for in a variety of other ways.
This week, Scutaro displayed the peskiness and timely hitting that earned him the nickname "Seņor Clutch" in the Venezuelan Winter League. He went 8-for-22 with three walks, a stolen base, six runs scored and an RBI, and he is now hitting an even .400 in 30 at-bats. In fact, the native Venezuelan has a hit in all seven games he's played for the Leones del Caracas.
