Before every game in the playoffs, Frank Thomas would go up to Milton Bradley and ask him a few questions: "Are you going to do something today?" "Are you going to put us on your back and carry us?"

Bradley did something in every game of the American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers, just about the only A's hitter who hit with any kind of regularity, and nearly did carry the A's into Game 5.

If it weren't for a couple of feet and maybe a little wind, in fact, Bradley would have been the hero Saturday in Game 4 before Magglio Ordoez sent the Detroit Tigers to their first World Series since 1984.
