MINNEAPOLIS -- Oakland first baseman Dan Johnson has reduced the number of tickets he is giving out this series. Still, he expects to see a lot of family and friends this week.
Johnson grew up in Coon Rapids, Minn., about 15 miles from the Metrodome, and graduated in 1997 from Blaine High School.
"When I was growing up, I wished I was going to be a Twin," he said. "I always said I was going to be a baseball player, and here we are today."
The first baseman hopes that the so-called "Minnesota Nice" will help him at the plate. He was 4-for-6 in his first three games after being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Aug. 31, including a grand slam against Baltimore, but he's hitless in his last 12 at-bats entering play Tuesday. He did have a bases-loaded walk Monday.
