Posada To Land On The DL For The First Time In HIs Career
Quote:
The despondent look on Jorge Posada's face told most of the story Sunday. The MRI that will be taken on his injured right shoulder in the next day or two will tell the rest of it.
Posada will be placed on the disabled list with a strained right shoulder, the same one that kept him from catching for two weeks earlier this month. Posada has never been on the DL in his career, but the issue now isn't whether he will miss time, but how long it will be before he can return.
"It's very disappointing - the biggest disappointment of my career, probably," Posada said. "I thought I was coming along, but it's not. We're going to find out what's really bothering me and make a wise decision."
An MRI taken a few weeks ago showed a mild strain of the subscapularis muscle in his shoulder, which, by definition, is a tear. Posada took a cortisone shot last week to help him deal with the discomfort, but after making two solid throws on Saturday, he couldn't throw effectively while warming up yesterday, causing him to be scratched from the lineup less than 15 minutes before first pitch.
"I'm not concerned long-term, I'm concerned short-term. We're probably not going to have him for a while," Joe Girardi said. "I would hope that it would only be 15 days, but we'll have to see."

Jorge Posada's shoulder to land him on DL for first time in career
It just looks bad for Posada, I have a feeling he will be out longer than that, or maybe out for the season.
