Yankees 7, Orioles 6

Wilson Betemit put the Yankees ahead with a two-run homer in the second inning on Monday. (Seth Wenig/AP)

Yankees:
Quote:
Mariano Rivera blew his first save since April 20, but the Yanks would not be denied of their fourth straight victory. Bobby Abreu and Wilson Betemit homered, and Derek Jeter knocked in the winning run. Jorge Posada had two hits in his return to the lineup.
Orioles:
Quote:
The Orioles rallied against Mariano Rivera in the ninth on Monday, but they fell short in the series opener. Brian Roberts beat Rivera with an RBI single, but New York pushed across the game-winner in the bottom of the frame. Chad Bradford took the loss.

Thumbs down

Orioles 12, Yankees 0
Yankees:
Quote:
Jeff Karstens was hit hard in the start and the Yanks were unable to plate a run despite nine walks as the O's snapped their four-game winning streak. Karstens lasted three innings in the loss, allowing five runs.
Orioles:
Quote:
The O's got even with the Yanks on Tuesday, scoring 12 runs and getting solid pitching from Daniel Cabrera in their most lopsided win of the season. Aubrey Huff delivered the big blow, belting a grand slam. Cabrera allowed just one hit over 6 2/3 innings.
Horrible performance by Karstens, maybe Torre should have went with someone else.

Orioles 6, Yankees 3
Yankees:
Quote:
Shelley Duncan's three-run homer with two outs in the ninth evened the score and gave the Yankees every reason to believe they would win their first series against the Orioles this season, but Mariano Rivera allowed three runs in the 10th as New York stayed five games behind Boston in the AL East.
Orioles:
Quote:
The Orioles' bullpen allowed three ninth-inning runs to spoil a win for Erik Bedard, but an RBI double by Miguel Tejada and a two-run homer by Aubrey Huff off Mariano Rivera in the top of the 10th were enough for the O's to take two of three from the Yankees for the fourth time this season.

I was shocked at how well Cabrera did. I am always confident in Bedard though.
