Yankees:

A four-run sixth inning catapulted the Yankees to their fourth straight win, as AL Player of the Week Robinson Cano put the club ahead for good with a two-run double. Andy Pettitte was solid for 5 2/3 innings, picking up his eighth win of the year and his first against the Blue Jays this season.

Blue Jays:

After sweeping the Rangers over the weekend, the Jays' eight-game home winning streak ended in the opener to the Yankees. A Frank Thomas two-run double gave Toronto the lead in the third, but Jess Listch, who picked up his fifth loss, and the Jays' bullpen could not fend off the Yankees' lineup.

Yankees:

The Yankees' surge up the standings continued on Tuesday, with a little spice thrown into the mix. Alex Rodriguez was hit in the leg on the first pitch he saw in the third inning, setting off two separate bench-clearing incidents. No one was ejected at the time, but Roger Clemens was tossed after hitting Alex Rios in the seventh.

Blue Jays:

If Josh Towers' plunking of Alex Rodriguez in the third inning was meant to spark his own offense, the tactic backfired. Tensions flared after A-Rod was hit, leading to two separate bench-clearing incidents and a seven-run outburst by the Yankees offense. The Jays managed two runs after Roger Clemens was ejected in the seventh inning.

Think Roger made you eat those words Kitty... Great outing for the Rocket last night in Toronto. He really pitched well through 6 and I liked the fire he showed in protecting Arod by sticking one in Rio's back and then having it out with the ump following his ejection. I hope this gets the team fired up and they continue this hot streak. The Yanks are really playing some great ball now IMO.

wang really struggled tonight...a little unfortunate and it seems the Yanks might be a little frustrated tonight (abreu getting ejected for arguing strikes). At least now we know the Yanks can come back from 8 runs down in an inning, so maybe a positive can come out of tonight

Sorry, Roger's era alone will never make me eat my words. He has been too inconsistent on the mound.
