Farnsworth Decline Continues
Quote:

Kyle Farnsworth was booed loudly yesterday when he entered the game to start the eighth inning. That's what happens when a pitcher has been as ineffective as Farnsworth has been this season.

Farnsworth was booed even more lustily upon leaving the mound after finishing the eighth yesterday. That's what happens when you give up two home runs in one inning, which Farnsworth did in the Yankees' 13-9 loss to the White Sox at the Stadium. When asked after the game if he had time to talk, he first responded, "About what? We lost." He later added, "No, I do not."
Mike Myers, however, did.
"Things like this don't happen all the time, but he's going through an avalanche right now," Myers said. "We all go through those. If you've never gone through an avalanche in your career as a reliever, it's been a real short career."
Not short enough for the Yankees faithful, who have watched Farnsworth get hit hard since arriving as a free agent last year. Despite Farnsworth's continued struggles, Joe Torre said he continued to have faith in the embattled right-hander, whom the team was unable to move before the trade deadline. "I still believe Farnsworth is going to be a contributor to this team," Torre said. "Farnsworth is certainly capable of doing more than he's done."
