Yankees 16, White Sox 3

Yankees:

Alex Rodriguez was held hitless in five at-bats, but the Yankees' offense had his back against the White Sox. The Bombers clubbed eight homers, tying a team record set in 1939. Hideki Matsui clubbed two homers, giving him 13 in July. Mike Mussina netted the win.

White Sox:

The White Sox had a night to forget in the opener at Yankee Stadium, as Jose Contreras and the Sox bullpen allowed eight homers. Juan Uribe clubbed a three-run homer, but Chicago was held to eight hits. Ozzie Guillen and Paul Konerko were both ejected for arguing balls and strikes.

fun fun game to watch last night...HR derby time. Good to see the offense just dominate the White Sox.

Having hit a club-record eight home runs one night earlier, the Yankees battered Chicago pitching for five more roundtrippers. Andy Pettite evened his record at 7-7. A-Rod went 0-for-4.

White Sox:

John Danks was given an early lead, but the rookie left-hander succumbed to the long ball in his first Yankee Stadium start. Scott Podsednik tripled home the visitors' lone run in the second inning as the White Sox dropped their third straight overall.

Damn Clemens just received a absolute beating from the ChiSox in the 2nd inning. 8 runs...
We are going to have to keep up the hot hitting from the last to games to make a comeback in this one.

Yanks have jumped right back in this game in the top of the 3rd on a 3 run homer by the new guy Betemit who started at SS giving Jeter a bit of rest.
CHI now leads 8-4 and NY has two men on base with 1 out. Abreu is at the plate with Arod on deck. He's gotta break the slump sometime.

On singles by Abreu and Arod (breaking his hitting slump) the Yanks drive in 2 more runs and now trail 8-6.
hot hitting Hideki at the plate now...looks like Ozzie may pull Garland.
