BOO YAH!!! AROD cracks a 2 run HR to give the Yanks a much need early lead. Wang gets the strikeout of Youkillis to end the inning after the Sox loaded the bases on a rare DJeter error.

The GIAMBINO goes yard!!! 3-0 NY. Yanks got the bats rolling against the knuckleball tonight. Great to see since Wakefield has certainly stymied our bats in the past with that pitch.

The Yankees cut their AL East deficit back to single digits behind starter Chien-Ming Wang, who was charged with two runs in 6 1/3 innings and received early support with home runs by Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi. Robinson Cano broke the game open with a two-run triple in the fifth.

Red Soxs:

Tim Wakefield issued five of the Red Sox's eight walks, allowing six runs in five innings, and David Ortiz was responsible for Boston's only production at the plate with an RBI double and a sacrifice fly. Kevin Youkilis extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a pair of doubles. J.C. Romero walked three batters.

Moose has been flat out unreliable this season, I'm sick of him. The Yanks lose this ball game and take another huge step back in the division.

The Yankees saw their two-game winning streak halted as Mike Mussina was roughed up early and late by the Red Sox. Derek Jeter extended his hitting streak to 17 games with an eighth-inning single against southpaw reliever Hideki Okajima.

Red Soxs:

Julian Tavarez allowed two runs on three hits over 5 2/3 frames to earn a victory on his 34th birthday. Manny Ramirez delivered a first-inning present to his friend with a three-run homer, and Mike Lowell went deep in the fourth. Julio Lugo, Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz had seventh-inning RBIs.
