Yankees:

The Yankees got two hits from Jorge Posada but little else behind Darrell Rasner, who allowed three runs and lasted five innings, throwing 78 pitches, in his second loss. Derek Jeter extended his hit streak to seven games as the Yankees were shut out for just the second time this season.

Mariners:

Making his second start against the Yankees in a week, Jarrod Washburn tossed eight shutout innings before handing off for J.J. Putz's eighth save in as many opportunities. Kenji Johjima's fourth homer was more than enough support for Washburn.

Yankees:

Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada each collected three hits to lead the Yankees past the Mariners and help get rookie Matt DeSalvo his first career victory. DeSalvo gave up two runs in 6 2/3 innings in only his second start.

Mariners:

Miguel Batista was unable to shut down the powerful Yankees offense on Saturday, giving up 10 hits and seven runs over 2 1/3 innings.

Yankees:

The Yankees got a light performance from their offense for the second time in three games, spoiling a strong effort from Andy Pettitte, who pitched into the eighth inning and allowed two runs. Alex Rodriguez struck out with two runners on to end the eighth.

Seattle:

Horacio Ramirez held the Yankees to just a run in 6 1/3 innings, improving to 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA at Safeco Field this season when J.J. Putz struck out the side in the ninth inning for his ninth save in as many chances. Brandon Morrow was one of four relievers to hold the Yankees scoreless.
