Bobby Abreu smacked a two-run double and Jason Giambi ripped a two-run homer as the Yankees scored five runs in the third. The Tigers, though, rebounded with three in the fifth tonight in the AL Division Series.
Things definitely looked good for the Yankees in the fourth inning after they surged in front on Johnny Damon's three-run homer to the upper deck in right. But the Tigers rallied off Yankees starter Mike Mussina, tying the series heading back to Detroit.
Trailing 3-1, the Tigers used a sac fly, a homer and a run-scoring triple to pull out a win and a split of their trip to Yankee Stadium. Curtis Granderson's three-bagger put Detroit in front, and the bullpen tossed 3 2/3 one-hit innings to ground the Yankees.
