It has happened before, once, but even then it never felt this inevitable. As of right now, Sept. 17, the Yankees and the Mets, division champions in the same season for the first time ever, look like pretty good bets to face each other in the World Series.

Will it happen? Who knows. The postseason, as a wise GM has said, is a crapshoot. But it certainly could happen. It's set up to happen. It feels, from more than a month away, as if it should happen.
