Barring a last-minute change, the Blue Jays plan on sending Roy Halladay to the mound on Friday against the Devil Rays.
The former American League Cy Young Award winner's last outing ended abruptly after he was hit by a line drive on his right elbow on Sunday in Anaheim. An X-ray at Anaheim Memorial Hospital revealed no fracture in the joint, but Halladay did experience some minor swelling after the 16-pitch appearance.
Halladay received treatment on the arm on Monday, played catch at a distance of 90 feet on Tuesday and pitched off a mound successfully on Wednesday. According to Blue Jays pitching coach Brad Arnsberg, Halladay felt a "twinge" in his elbow while throwing a few early curveballs during the bullpen session. After a few more throws, though, Arnsberg said the right-hander felt better and he should be able to start on Friday.
