Just a few hours after Joe Torre said he could see T.J. Beam becoming part of the Yankees' set-up corps, Beam gave up almost as many runs in two-thirds of an inning as he did in 23 minor-league games this year.
Beam, 25, surrendered six runs -- and two homers -- in the fifth inning against the Cleveland Indians before the Yankees manager came to the mound to remove him. But Torre gave Beam, 25, some encouraging words before sending him to the clubhouse.
