Seduced by what many believe to be Venezuelan prospect Jesus Montero's enormous power, the Yankees signed the 16-year-old catcher to a $2 million contract Sunday.
They also have agreed to terms with Brooklyn right-hander Dellin Betances, who was taken in the eighth round of this year's draft. It's believed the Grand Street Campus High School product landed more than a $1 million signing bonus. He will report to Tampa and pitch in the Gulf Coast League.
