While the Yankees are reluctant to part with Phil Hughes, their top pitching prospect, other clubs are tripping over each other to scout the hard-throwing right-hander in case the Yankees do move him for a stud arm or bat.
Last night in Manchester, N.H., where Hughes pitched for Double-A Trenton, six organizations were on hand. Included in that mix were the A's, who would certainly demand Hughes be part of a package if they move lefty Barry Zito. The Dodgers and Diamondbacks were also identified.
