Mariano Rivera relieved Chien-Ming Wang and pitched the ninth and 10th innings, but it took Kyle Farnsworth, Mike Myers, Scott Proctor and Ron Villone to get the next six outs, the Braves scoring on Marcus Giles' home run and leaving the bases loaded in the 11th and 12th.
