It was only an intrasquad game, and the opposing pitcher was Tobi Stoner, not Roy Halladay. But still, the sight of Jose Reyes rounding second and heading for third Monday was about the best thing the Mets could have imagined.
Playing in a game for the first time since last May, Reyes hit the first pitch he saw down the right field line for a two-run triple in the bottom of the first inning. He received a loud ovation from the tiny crowd at Tradition Field and had a big smile on his face as he reached third base.
