Let my Reds take this last game (we'll get 3 of 4 if we get it) from them and then you can have em. lol Hopefully Utley and Burrell are nicer to you guys than they were to us. Thats the only reason the game have been as close as they were...and all the men we've left on base...try not to do that either. lol Good Luck!

Phils spoil final Shea opener
Phillies 5, Mets 2

In the last Opening Day at Shea Stadium, the Mets held a late two-run lead, but the relief corps allowed three runs in the seventh, and the hosts could not rally. Carlos Delgado belted his first homer of '08, but also committed a costly error.

Held in check by Mets starter Oliver Perez for 5 2/3 innings, the Phils broke through with three runs in the seventh, highlighted by Jayson Werth's tiebreaking RBI single, and notched their first win in eight tries on Opening Day at Shea Stadium.

Willie's stubborn to a fault he knows Showenweiss chokes at Shea.
Why in the world did he take Mighty Joe out for him I'll never understand.
The Mets are going nowhere with him as manager.

^ I agree Kemet, I'm tired of his stupid decison making, and his layed back attitude. I like Willie as a person but they shoudn't have fired him after last year's meltdown.

Patience a virtue for resurgent Mets
Mets 8, Phillies 2
Mike Pelfrey allowed two runs in five innings to win his first start of 2008. (AP)
Mets:

The Mets ended a nine-game skid against the Phillies mostly because of their patience, drawing six walks against Kyle Kendrick and capitalizing with some timely base hits. Mike Pelfrey pitched a solid five innings to win his 2008 debut.

Phillies:

Jimmy Rollins' left ankle may be sore, but the Phillies sorely need the 2007 MVP back in the lineup. Fill-in Eric Bruntlett made two costly errors and Kyle Kendrick couldn't make it out of the third inning, allowing the Mets to even the series.

Sup Kitty, I can live with the bad decisions and lazy attitude but Willie's stubborn. Caught him on M&MD and he was pissed at Perez for not pitching more innings...Willie you took him out.
He also said he doesn't believe in situational managing more or less he said "You give the pitcher the ball and his job is to get it done".
Blowenweiss is a shipwreck at Shea Stadium so why does Willie depend on him?
