After giving up a run in the first inning, Oliver Perez spent the rest of the day missing the Marlins' bats, striking out a season-high 10 during a mostly dominant performance. Perez also had two hits and scored two runs, while David Wright continued to heat up at the plate with two hits and an RBI.

Anibal Sanchez was hit on the leg by a line drive in the first inning, and although he stayed in the game, his day went downhill from there. The Mets knocked Sanchez out in the fourth and went on to thwart the Marlins' sweep attempt. Miguel Cabrera's RBI single extended his hitting streak to eight.
