David Wright Wants A-Rod
Quote:
Can you imagine Alex Rodriguez in a Mets uniform in 2008? It's not just impossible, you say, it's heresy. Or is it? The idea of A-Rod crossing enemy lines has strong support from none other than David Wright – who says he'd give up his position to make room for the Yankee third baseman.
"Are you kidding me? As great a hitter as Alex is, I'd definitely do it," Wright said. "Tell him to come over, tell him to do it."
In a quiet, early morning clubhouse at Tradition Field, Wright was smiling, but apparently not kidding about his crosstown rival. That's how convinced he is that A-Rod's arrival would be the final, missing piece in ensuring the Mets' domination for the rest of the decade.
Wright says so because he knows Rodriguez has an opt-out clause after the 2007 season, one which the Yankee slugger has yet to renounce. The fact that A-Rod has been largely rejected by Yankee fans, and, by his own admission, has seen his friendship with Derek Jeter deteriorate, gives Wright added hope.

We'd send him to you, but wha would we get back? There's nothing to offer, really. Everyone on the Mets is either entrenched or overpaid, and the few that aren't don't have enough value for us to give up our starting thirdbaseman

I think he is talking about opting out so a trade will be a moot point.

You could always place ARod back at Shortstop and leave Wright at 3b.

That would suck for Jose Reyes, so I don't think Willie will do that.

yeh reyes would be a pretty decent 2nd baseman IMO. slot arod back into his little ss spot and watch the mets take the nl with players like pedro (who even though cant pitch properly for another like 4 months would still probs be better then most nl pitchers haha) wright, delgado and reyes

That would be a very scary lineup!
Then again .. it would be what the Yankees put together now. An all star team that needs to learn to play as a team.

but the yanks are just packed with talent and they dont know how to use it properly. the mets would have their leadership group, then the younger stars. it would even itself out.

You are right .. as long as they have the proper roles defined on the team, it will be successful.
That is why a good TEAM always beats a all star lineup even though they can have less talent.
