Default Mets appoint Minor League staff

The New York Mets today announced the following appointments.

Luis Aguayo joins the organization as the Minor League Field Coordinator after spending the last three years with the Cincinnati Reds. Luis, 48, will supervise each of the Minor League teams throughout the season. In addition, he will oversee Spring Training for the Minor League teams, extended Spring Training and the Mets' fall Instructional League team.

Sonny Jackson enters his first season as the Minor League Outfield and Baserunning Coordinator. Jackson, 62, spent the last four seasons as a special assistant with the Chicago Cubs.

Mako Oliveras begins his first season with the Mets as the manager at Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League after spending the last eight years with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization.

Juan Lopez starts his first season in the organization as the manager of the the Gulf Coast Mets (R) of the Gulf Coast League. Lopez, 46, has been the bullpen coach for the Chicago Cubs for the previous four seasons.

Tom McCraw begins his second tour of duty with the Mets as the Hitting Coach for the Gulf Coast Mets. Tom, 66, was the hitting coach for the New York Mets from 1992-1996.

Mike Hart joins the Mets as a coach at Savannah (A) of the South Atlantic League. Hart, 49, served as a coach in the Washington Nationals organization in 2006.

Luis Rojas, 25, enters his first season as a coach with the Mets Dominican Summer League team. He was the manager for the Washington Nationals Dominican Summer League team in 2006.

Pablo Cruz joins the organization as the Dominican Academy Coordinator. Pablo served as a scout for the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals from 2003-2006 after working 36 years as a scout in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.

Mario Gonzalez begins his first year with the Mets as the Venezuelan Academy Coordinator. Gonzalez, 33, spent the last nine years as a manager and field coordinator in the Venezuelan League.

New York also named Adam Hindes as trainer of the Gulf Coast Mets and strength coaches Orlando Crance (Savannah), Doug Griswold (Brooklyn), Jacob Henderson (Kingsport) and Nick Wright (Gulf Coast Mets).
