The surgery was the easy part. Now it gets tough with the rehab, the waiting, the wondering.
Mets left fielder Cliff Floyd underwent successful surgery yesterday to repair his strained left Achilles' tendon, with the procedure performed by team physician Dr. Struan Coleman at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.
Floyd has been through this before, in 1999 with his right Achilles', so he's aware of the rigors of the four months of rehabilitation he faces before he's ready to step on the field.
"I was younger then," Floyd said as he cleaned out his locker at Shea Stadium last week, which he hopes wasn't for the last time.
