Cool College Recruitment and "Drafts"-How do I get my brother looked at by colleges???

Hello, my brother is going to be graduating this year and is looking to go to a college that offers a good chemistry program and also features a varsity level baseball team. (can be a community college or 2 and 4 year colleges).

My parents didn't have to do this with me (market my athleticism) because I didn't want to go to a school to play ball.

They're having a hard time figuring out what the process entails as far as getting into/being looked at by particular schools. How is it best done to market a great ball player?

My brother is a left handed pitcher and he's got a great arm (his team won the state championships for summer ball and he received MVPitcher of the tournament.) Lowest ERA on his team, knuckle ball, slider, fast, "super" fast etc. He can throw most anything.

What kind of information should be presented to a college he is interested in or to a college that we'd like him to be looked at by.

If anyone else has gone through a similar process and has some advice, tips, or knows exactly what to do, I would appreciate any help you have to offer.

Would there be any difference between community/2 year colleges and say a 4 year college as far as recruitment goes?

Thank you very much!

Default recruitment help

Select some interested schools and get a couple of letters out to the schools in a package. One letter from his coach with his stats, and one letter from him describing his desires and some personal facts and interest. If possible you should send a DVD of some active film or at least a work out session. Ideal if you could have a radar gun in the picture. Also, go to the schools websites and fill out their perspective athlete forms ASAP.

If he is a good lefty I am surprised people aren't tripping over him. Look at an Unsigned showcase camp, "perfect game" has some and I am sure there are others. I did all of these for my son and it helped. Also regarding JUCO, if he is more inclined to try pro ball rather than a college education he can be drafted after each season. If he goes to a 4 year he will have to wait until after his Junior year.

You really should have done all of this during his Junior year but still not to late especially for a lefty pitcher.

Default Student Athlete Recruiting Process

I know of a great information based web site called StudentAthleteTalk™

They provide step by step information regarding the recruiting process. The Best part is that it's free!

I found this site helpful because they also provide a discussion forum StudentAthleteTalk Forum - Index for questions regarding the student athlete recruiting process.

Hope this helps!
