As most Dodger fans know things haven't gone exactly as planned. First 3 starting pitchers are out, and then we have hitters that are not hitting. We've got Jeff Kent who IMHO should be in the AL as a DH not playing second base. We got totally screwed by taking Andru Jones. And then we have Juan Pierre.
Juan Pierre is a good hitter. He can catch a fly ball with the best of them. But his throwing is about as poor for an outfielder that I've ever seen. Everybody runs on him, even in left field.
So if Colletti is going to make some changes, let's get rid of the garbage and work with the young talent. Kent seems to have trouble getting along with the younger players so maybe move him. Jones is washed up, a big waste of money. I don't know what we can do about him except bat him 8th. He can still field. But if we could trade Kent for either a decent hitting and good fielding outfielder or infielder that would be a step in the right direction. Then I would also trade Pierre. He hits ok but that arm, man, I can almost throw that well. OK, not really but you know what I mean.
Now if the Dodgers want they can probably get C.C. Sabathia from Cleveland but that's a risky move as he will go free agent next year. But it would shore up the starting rotation for the remainder of the season and we are not out of it yet. The Tribe on the other hand is probably already out of it and they know CC will not return.
Then maybe Penny will come back. Chan Ho Park pitched well last night. And I've almost forgot that Jason Schmidt is on the roster. And Nomar? His time is up. He spends more time on the disabled list and when he is active he isn't producing.
Anyway
Ned Colletti better do something or else it looks like he will be standing in a line soon.
You may have to register for that link to work. It's not a big deal, it will work for both the L.A. Times and Chicago Tribune.
