Somewhat bias but Branden Phillips with out a doubt. I dont even think he is at the peak of his abilities...he has some great years still ahead of him.

When you play this game 20 years, go to bat 10,000 times, and get 3,000 hits, you know what that means? You've gone 0 for 7,000. ~Peter Edward Rose

Cano is the youngest of the three top guys at the position (25, Phillips is 27, Utley 29), has no significant injury history, and plays the best defense of the group. Both Phillips and Utley have a bit more power and speed, but Cano projects to match their power output. Moreover, his patience at the plate increased dramatically from 2006 to 2007. Basically, I feel that he has the most potential of the group.
As of now, I feel that Utley is the best second baseman in the game - but a year or two down the road I expect Cano to be the best.
Not that I agree but I have heard a lot of buzz about Orlando Hudson being one of the best second baseman in baseball...(at least 4-5 times during the game yesterday) lol Just a thought...

Hudson's 30, has a career line of .278/.342/.430, middling speed, and middling power. Plus, he has a pretty extensive injury history. Basically, I disagree.
At least you and I are on the same page...I may never know where there backing was coming from. lol

I wish I could have my first post above the poll itself - you're voting on which second baseman you'd most want on your team for the next five years, not the best for 2008.
