Hmmm...it's going to be strange to see him in any other uniform but pinstripes. It's like Willie Mays in a Mets jersey. Sad, sad news. I knew it would never happen, but I wanted him to come back to the Yanks. I guess I live in the past.

"Did they tell me how to pitch to (Ted) Williams? Sure they did. It was great advice, very encouraging. They said he had no weakness, won't swing at a bad ball, has the best eyes in the business, and can kill you with one swing. He won't hit anything bad, but don't give him anything good." - Bobby Shantz
I'm kinda surprise Torre would take a job so fast. I thought he would take at least a year off to spend time with his family, now he is on the west coast. It will be an interesting season next year.

Yes, it will definately be an interesting season next year. But I am hoping for Joe's sake that it is a good thing. And I am shocked that he would take a job so fast myself, but because it seems like just yesterday that we read that he wasn't going to be a Yankee.
Vlad's the man- don't worry about living in the past. I have that feeling a lot, so you're not the only one.
I personally think Torre's a fine fit - especially since all he has to do to not be a failure is make them a serious team again. The Dodgers may not be the lovable bums who always wait till next year, but the don't see winning the whole thing every year as the norm either. If he turns them into a team that makes the post season 4 years out of 5 (I know his contract is for 3, just saying) and does not finish below 2nd, that's fine - and it seems to me Joe should have enough know-how in a non-overwhelming west to do that.
And, as usual, here's a poll on the subject. Thanks for you vote, and feel free to create you own
He didn't waste any time. Will e have the success on the West Coast that he had in NY? I just can't figure out why he wouldn't want to retire and enjoy life with his family.
Like Kitty said, the man should be chillin' with his family, waiting for offers with a drink and a smile. Only reason he'd NOT take a year off and wait for offers while chillin' with a drink and a grandkid on his knees. Only reason not to is him seeing red and thinking only one thought: "I am gonna show that @#$% Steinbrenner...and boy do I hope they make it to the Series against us "
Actually, there's an idea for a poll Tomorrow LOL.

I think Torre will have success in the NL and with the Dodgers. The Dodgers have a pretty good ball club with a pretty good pitching staff that did recently well last season and the line-up is good. I think they were missing a good coach that can push them into the right direction and now with Torre there, I think he'll be able to push them into the right direction and they'll be fighting for that division title next season.
