Cano had a much higher BA but significantly fewer HR's and RBI's, Uggla also almost helped his team to the playoffs, the same team that was supposed to lose 100+ games and we never heard about him. That is my final pick for most underrated, Dan Uggla.
Anyone else notice the trend with second basemen? O-Dawg, Cano, Utley, and Uggla.

Put Uggla on the Yanks and ask yourself if he would raise eyebrows like Cano has. I'm not saying Uggla is overrated I'm just saying that some might not realize just how good Cano could be...

we aren't talking about how they would do on the Yankees, we're talking about who is underrated. The guy hit nearly 30 bomb with almost 100 rbi's as a rookie and we hardly heard anything about him.

Let's take a look at the number of games Cano played last year however to get his .342 AvG. Shall we? 122?..... That's 40 games missed, and to be honest, I'm not sure he would have kept that average as high if he had played say 157 games or something like that. Now I'm not saying he wouldnt, I'm saying it's unlikely. And I just dont see anywhere how his stats, even with that high average match up with Utley's...for all of you wanting to take a look yourself.... Baseball-Reference.com - Major League Baseball Statistics and History. Look for yourself and you will soon agree with the rest of us that Utley is, in fact, better than Cano.
The fact that he plays in New York and for the Pinstripes is the only reason anyone would put him ahead of Utley...Bias.

And honeslty...I discredit anyone's baseball knowledge who says Utley would not start if he was on the Yankees.

Don't have to ask joek. It is common knowledge that joeks WIN METHOD rates players to the greatest degree on each players ability to help his team succeed. Cano has done this to a higher degree than Utley. therefore joeks pick would be Cano, as is mine.

I really wouldn't discredit anyones knowledge that would think Utley would start for the Yankees. Each one is intitled to their opinion. Looking at the Yankee eight position starters with common sense, ther is no way on this Gods earth Utley replaces Matsui, Damon, Abreu, Posada, Giambi, Cano, Jeter, Arod. Utley would fall into the infield position as Melky falls into the outfield position. Top quality backup.

I still fail to see how you can say that Cano helps his team win more than Utley? Giambi, Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Bobby Abreu, Damon, Posada. Yes, Cano did it all by himself...with his 16 walks...compared to Utley's 60+...Utley's more homeruns, more RBI....and a better OBP...which is much more telling about how a player is than his BA. Bias on your part? I think so...get real. You can have an opinion but just realize that your's is wrong...done.
Even if you look at something that isnt on the stat sheet...I've seen Utley play many many times, and I've seen Cano play plenty as well. Utley is the leader of the Phillies in the clubhouse and on the field, and he gives one hundred percent on every ground ball, every fly ball, every play. Cano is good, but not as good as Utley.

Ok, DC. Lets say that the Phillies make the playoffs and have the best record in baseball this year and go on to win the World Series and the Yankees miss the playoffs by a game. Then whose the better 2nd basemen?

I agree, you can have an opinion, but just realize that yours is wrong. I would rather have the player that helps lead my team to the playoffs any day, anytime. Lets see how another season plays out.
