If you were a GM and can draft any one player and Manager who would they be?
These guys of course would be your cornerstones for possibly many championships to come. The manager would of course lead the rest of the troops. Keep in mind prior accomplishments or their upside. Who would you pick and why?
My picks would be....
Lou Piniella: Hard to match his knowledge, experience and desire, his teams play their hearts out, unless of course I'm the GM of the Rays....
Derek Jeter: He might not be in the top 10 players list of any of you guys and gals but he is the best leader, plays his heart out and is extremely clutch.
Joe Girardi, may not be the most well known manager, or player, but look what he's done to the Marlins. Close to .500 record, and competing for the wildcard. With the bunch of kids he's got I'd say thats a pretty good job wouldn't you?
Also:
I'd go with Ryan Howard, he's a young player with great potential. He's like 25 and is having a 60 home run season? MAN! He also seems like a pretty nice kid so he won't be causing any problems or influencing younger players down the future.

Well he's kind of had it in me ever since i accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace "accidentally" with "repeatedly" and replace "dog" with "son".

Rumors are all ready flying that he may end up being the Cubs manager next year.
It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that he won't be back in Florida because of differences between him and the ownership.
Baker is pretty much out in Chitown.
I think people are putting two and two together with Girardi's background with the Cubs organization.
