We had a visiting Chicago Tribune Sports Writer say pretty much the same thing about mid-season in the Detroit News. Chicago is now 87 & 69 and will be lucky to make the playoffs this year.
We are 94 & 62 this season with one more win than the Yankees.

It wasn't until September that the mighty yanks could catch Detroit. The only thing consistent about the Yanks all year is that their Win/Loss percentage fluctuated constantly.
I am always amazed at you Yankee fans. It was the same thing with the 2001 World Series against the DiamondBacks. You guys choked against a team you thought were inferior to the mighty Yankees. That was one of the greatest World Series of all times and it put the Yankees in their place.
You better hope that you win home field advantage because your Win/Loss on the road is fairly poor and your home stand is just a bit better than ours.
October baseball is very different than regular season baseball. The only thing you have to gain with that “superior Yankee attitude” is another major upset on the scale of the 2001 season
Btw:
For all the money the Yankees Spend & the Last 6 World Series.
2005 Chi. White Sox 4, Houston 0 Jermaine Dye (No Yankees)
2004 Boston 4, St. Louis 0 Manny Ramirez (No Yankees)
2003 Florida 4, NY Yankees 2 Josh Beckett (Yankees Choke)
2002 Anaheim 4, San Francisco 3 Troy Glaus (No Yankees)
2001 Arizona 4, NY Yankees 3 Schilling/Johnson (Yankees blow it big time)
2000 NY Yankees 4, NY Mets 1 Derek Jeter (Yankees win against a team that was a fluke)
