Major League Baseball : News : Major League Baseball News

Quote:
In a season with so many teams still in the hunt for a playoff spot in mid-September, it comes as no surprise that the field for the 2006 American League Most Valuable Player Award also has numerous contenders.
Unlike most years, when the field is usually culled to a couple or three leading contenders by now, this season the 28 voters from the Baseball Writers' Association of America, selected to determine the AL MVP, should have no problem filling out all 10 lines on their ballots
well what do you all think who is the MVP???? well, we dont know.. so we will have to see.. who do you all predict?

justin Morneau, he is just having a great year, and the twins are in the hunt for playoffs, and he has a large hand in it.

derek will be the front contendor, but the team he is playing with a great lineup, thats the only reason i didnt pick him
but nobody know, it might hte the "big viner papi"

Derek Jeter should win it. It's not fair for people to discount his effort because of his team. It's not like the Twins are a bunch of scrubs. Mauer, Cuddyer, Hunter, etc. So, that's a moot point because Morneau hits behind Mauer and Cuddyer. He's developing into a great player, but ths is Jeter's year.

Jeter will get it, look at his stats as a #2 hitter, he is the best in the baseball. He'll have over 200 hits and over 100 ribbies and over 100 runs scored.

Jetes plays the field and his team is in first place. Did I mention a .340+ average as an everyday hitter?
