PORT ST. LUCIE -- There are two Hall of Famers managing in baseball today. One is Frank Robinson of the Washington Nationals. He is 70, has managed in the major leagues across three decades, worked in baseball's executive office and earned a spot among baseball royalty as he nears the finish line.
The other Hall of Famer sits at his desk preparing for another game on "Dollar Night Thursday." Drinks and hot dogs cost $1. A barber works down the left-field line. Raffle tickets are given to the estimated 700 fans.
Gary Carter writes out the night's lineup card with a black marker and three Hi-Liters. He picks up the blue Hi-Liter and lines it over the name of a Clearwater Thresher.
