Coyotes announce Moore as field manager

The Edinburg Coyotes of United League Baseball (ULB) have announced today that Vince Moore will return as field manager for the 2008 season. This will mark his third year as the Coyotes skipper.

Moore was drafted in the fifth round of the 1991 Major League Baseball Draft by the Atlanta Braves. While in the Braves organization, Moore spent two seasons in Class-A Macon and a portion of the 1993 season in High Class-A Durham in the Carolina League. The Braves traded Moore along with two other players to the San Diego Padres in exchange for slugger Fred McGriff. In 1998, Moore began his independent league career with the Greenville Bluesman of the Texas-Louisiana League. Moore joined the Roadrunners in 2001 where he won two championship rings in four seasons as a player (2001-2004).

Moore began his managerial career with the Edinburg Roadrunners in 2005, becoming only the second manager in franchise history. In the inaugural season, 2006, Moore guided the Coyotes to the United League Championship series. Moore was named co-recipient of the ULB Manager of the Year Award as he guided his team to a 57-33 regular season record in which they were crowned the regular season champs.

"We feel very confident that Vince will lead this franchise to victory this season," said new GM Tuffy Martinez. "Vince is a proven leader who will guide this franchise to the United League Championship in the near future."

Despite missing the playoffs last year, Moore is confident that his team will put Edinburg on the map for minor league baseball.

"It feels good to come back as the field manager for the Edinburg Coyotes," Moore said. "I'm very excited about the upcoming year and I can't wait to compete for the United League Championship this season. We'll be ready to go this year."
