Appalachian League Executive of the Year goes to McGonagle
George McGonagle, President and General Manager of the Bluefield Orioles, has been named the 2007 Appalachian League Executive of the Year by a vote of the Appalachian League's general managers, field managers and umpires.
McGonagle, who recently announced his retirement, has been President and General Manager of the Bluefield Orioles for the past 18 years and has overseen major improvements to Bowen Field culminated by the 2007 installment of the new playing surface and drainage system. McGonagle has been in charge of promotions, marketing and business operations of the Baby Birds and has served on the Appalachian League Executive Committee and chaired other League committees during his tenure. He was also named the Appalachian League Executive of the Year in 1990 and 1995.
